5th December 2003, The Shooters Meet-up

As a number of us had worked in Vienna and liked the place so much we decided to have an annual reunion there. We'd had a couple previous years but this year we quite a few people and quite a few people who hadn't been there for a while. As well as myself there was Kevin Purcell, Roger Murphy, Alan Glass, Martin Smith, Colin Nelson, Avtar Sandhu, Holga Jansen and Paul Barson. As we all lived or worked in different places now we decided to meet in Shooters bar which joins the Atlanta hotel we always stay in. A great little bar in the 9th district with great staff and a nice drop. We've had many a late night in here before and after the silver shorts.

Time can go fast so fast when you're catching up and so we eventually made our exit and onwards into town towards the triangle. One of our reasons (so called) for coming is the Vienna Christkindl markets and so en route we called in for a quick punsch as it was brass monkey weather. The turbo punsch is a definite but talk to Mr Purcell for definitive list but if you talk to Rog you'll stay away from the Amaretto punsch!

First stop before the triangle was Sanctuary or the Budweiser bar on Fleissmarkt but we almost didn't make it in as the waitress had been short changed all of her tips but a previous customer and was going to close early. We convinced her otherwise and after a few schnapps together and a big tip the incident was forgotten. A great little bar this is and the food is even better as it comes from the Griechenbeisl next door a very old restaurant. I wasn't taking too many photos that night but one final one with our old friend in Relax in the Bermuda triangle. This lad used to clear tables for us to sit at when we came in. Usually we were doing the British thing of seeing no seats and walking out as the students were sitting 2 people to a table for 6 but as we used to drink a fair bit of Budvar in there he would stop us and then move the students to a smaller table. Top bloke! This is also the bar of the infamous "Shiny face", lest we not forget.

6th December 2003, Around Town in Vienna

Saturday was a big day and after some shopping for some in the morning we met up in Flanagans bar near Schwarzenburgplatz to watch some football and sink a few Guinness. Once we'd all arrived it was next door for a Schneiderwiess in Hooters and a chat to the numerous Eastern European girls who work in there.

At this point Kev was worried that his arse looked big in that shirt, ah well only one thing to do D.I.S.C.O!!!!!

From this point on Mr Schmitt had decided that he liked the look of the girls behind the bar, especially one called Petia. A lovely tall lass who he bought a drink for then wanted to buy her another. Once Rog had told him he'd done this already (very diplomatically) he decided he just wanted to give her money. I think she was quite taken by him, definitely

After a few more beers and probably a few more places and a quick change (no food cos eatins cheatin!) we headed into the tiangle and decided on Relax for some Budvar and a sing-a-long. This first shot is Roger (auld devil eyes) showing off his brush with an escalator in Munich. You should see the escalator!

As the night progressed the drinks continued and the singing got worse and worse. I'll have to fish out the videos for these last two shots, very funny.
